Well, they come to me anyway. Oddly enough, I'd always thought of it as "channeling."
Here's my journey to psychic mediumship:
Many years ago, I met a woman who did "channeling" and taught me how to do it. A few months later, I then met another woman, "Sally," who became my channeling partner. Every Saturday, we'd get together and have a channeling session. Sally was excellent at asking questions while I was "in my channeling trance" and bringing forth whatever information we sought.
At one point, I was able to channel a friend of hers who had died several years prior. I had never met this man (and in fact did not want to; he was a public figure and had a very public death,) and I knew little about him save from what was written in the newspapers. Nonetheless, he spoke through me and Sally confirmed everything he said.
After that, I spoke to another friend's grandmother; a friend's father, and probably one or two others.
I just never thought of myself as a psychic medium such as John Edward. Nay, whenever I heard of a death of an acquaintance or friend, I always thought, "Gee...wonder if I'd be able to channel him in."
It has only been fairly recently that I realized....I am a psychic medium! No joke!
It's only been in the last couple years that I am incorporating mediumship into my readings. "They" come to me anyway, so might as well!
The pivotal moment for me was when I did a psychic fair a few summers ago in Long Beach, LI. (See the story under the "Tarot Card Readings" page about the man whose son died at age 18.)
From then on, I have had several more experiences speaking to those who have passed. One of the most profound was this:
"Rachel" came to me for a reading not too long ago. She was just an acquaintance and I knew very little about her life. I told her that I could speak to those who have passed. Once we settled in, both her mother and brother came through. We had a good, fun chat with her mother. Speaking to her brother, on the other hand, was far more emotional. He had committed suicide several years prior and as most families of suicide victims, Rachel never got the closure she desired. Her brother apologized, we chatted some more, and when the reading was finished, I got a chill and knew instantly that we had relased him.
This is what moves me; what makes me reverent, grateful, and inspired. Every time I do a reading and I speak to those who have passed on, my heart sings, my soul is filled, and I know that this is what I'm meant to do.
